Marriage Records

Marriage in the Catholic Church is a sacrament and as such follows particular rules throughout the Church. Prior to the marriage of a couple, 'bands' are publicized at least three weeks in advance, often during each of the Sunday services for three weeks preceding the wedding. The rules of the Church were that both the bride and the groom had to be members of the Catholic Church, and marrying a person outside of the Catholic faith required a special dispensation. These records are retained in each of the parishes, and therefore I was able to request records for our Fritscher family from the parishes in or near their town or County of residence. Allied lines were researched in several surrounding states as well.
The menu at the left will provide information from the records that I have uncovered in various parishes.
